In the world of architectural design, we sometimes see a plethora of details, an abundance of colors, and complex shapes that distract and confuse the mind.
But at International Studio, we had a different vision for this outdoor project in Al Hamra, Oman:
A vision based on returning to simplicity, choosing a few but profound details, so that the space becomes a source of serenity and comfort rather than visual clutter.
The Philosophy Behind the Design:
The goal was not to dazzle with decoration or an abundance of detail, but rather to create a pure space that helps calm the mind and purify the senses.
Here, simplicity is not a lack… but rather a richness. It is a studied simplicity that makes the architecture a reflection of tranquil living, where one melts into the space without feeling crowded or chaotic.
✨ Arches and Openings:
We relied on geometric arches in their pure white color to create a clear identity for the space, inspired by classical Arabic architecture and reinterpreted in a simple, modern way. These arches were not merely an aesthetic form, but a means of organizing light and shadow and distributing movement between the interior and exterior.
🌿 Natural Spaces:
We made the most of the space surrounding the pool by creating multi-purpose seating areas—from relaxing chairs by the water to comfortable shaded areas within the arches. Every corner was carefully considered to serve the user’s daily experience, whether for individual relaxation or family gatherings.
🪵 Materials and Finishes:
Natural wood in its warm colors harmonizes with the white walls to create a visual balance that softens the harsh light and adds warmth to the space.
The flooring, chosen in neutral tones, reflects sunlight and highlights the purity of the pool, while the plants—from olive trees to cacti—add a natural depth that connects the design to the surrounding Omani environment.
At International Studio, we believe that architecture is more than just walls and spaces; it’s a lifestyle that tells a story and provides a sense of comfort and luxury.
This project in Al Hamra, Oman, combines elegant simplicity with thoughtful details, where Arabic arches blend with modern touches in a balanced composition that highlights the space’s identity and gives it a distinctive presence.
The design of the outdoor pool serves as a focal point for daily life, surrounded by comfortable, shaded seating areas that reflect an atmosphere of relaxation and tranquility. The selection of local and diverse plants was not random; rather, it was designed to create harmony with Omani nature and give the garden a sustainable aesthetic dimension.
Night lighting and wooden details add a warm dimension that enriches the experience and brings the space to life from day to night.
