A Contemporary Hospitality Retreat Rooted in Place

Located in the serene landscape of Al Hamra, Oman, this tourist hostel was designed as an immersive hospitality experience that blends modern architectural simplicity with the warmth of the natural environment.

The project celebrates the relationship between architecture, landscape, and outdoor living, creating a destination where guests can experience privacy, comfort, and a deep visual connection with the surrounding atmosphere.
The architectural composition is built around clean horizontal and vertical masses, enhanced by warm timber textures, expansive glass façades, and soft white rendered walls. The result is a refined modern language that feels both luxurious and deeply connected to the local setting.

The upper level introduces a striking floating roof frame element, adding depth and visual identity to the building while reinforcing the modern resort character of the project. Transparent glass balustrades preserve openness and maintain uninterrupted views toward the garden and pool.

Architectural Harmony & Spatial Experience

The design focuses on creating a fluid indoor-outdoor hospitality experience, where every internal space extends naturally toward the exterior leisure zones.

Large floor-to-ceiling openings maximize:

  • natural daylight
  • visual continuity
  • landscape views
  • cross ventilation
  • openness and guest comfort

The outdoor staircase was intentionally integrated as a sculptural architectural feature, contributing movement and elegance to the courtyard composition.
Warm wood cladding elements were carefully introduced to soften the white volumes and create a balanced contrast that reflects a premium boutique hospitality identity.
Every proportion in the façade was studied to maintain:

  • clean symmetry
  • comfortable human scale
  • visual calmness
  • premium resort aesthetics
Landscape Design & Outdoor Living

The landscape design was developed as an extension of the architecture itself.

A private swimming pool acts as the central focal point of the courtyard, surrounded by elegant lounge areas, shaded seating, and carefully curated planting zones.
The landscape composition includes:

  • natural lawn pockets
  • tropical planting
  • palm trees reflecting the Omani environment
  • flowering feature trees for seasonal color
  • low-height decorative shrubs
  • modern pathway lighting
  • integrated water feature walls
  • relaxing poolside sunbeds

The material palette of the hardscape was selected to complement the architecture through:

  • light stone paving
  • warm timber decks
  • natural textured finishes
  • subtle transitions between green and built surfaces
This balance creates a peaceful hospitality atmosphere designed to enhance the guest’s emotional connection with the space.

Design Vision

The vision behind this project was to create a boutique tourist retreat in Al Hamra that feels elegant, private, and memorable.
Rather than designing only a building, the goal was to create a complete lifestyle experience where architecture, landscape, water, light, and materiality work together to shape moments of relaxation and luxury.
This project reflects International Studio’s approach to hospitality design:
spaces that are visually iconic, emotionally engaging, and deeply functional.
